ChallengeConstruct a championship golf course in the floodplain of the Salado Creek in compliance with the City of San Antonio’s Tree Preservation Ordinance.
SolutionThe Coyle team worked with the golf course architect and owner to use golf course features such as tee boxes and greens to control flood water so base flood elevations were not raised, velocities held steady and the storage volume of the floodplain was increased.
Services ProvidedCoyle Engineering platted the property, prepared the tree preservation plan, and designed the elevations of the golf course to use the earth to control the flood characteristics of the creek. We also obtained a floodplain development permit and designed site improvements including drainage, paving, grading, and utility services for the pro-shop, cart barn, maintenance barn and banquet facility. |
